“I think these shoes will go great with your dress, Anni,” my auntie Fee said, holding up a pair of gold strappy shoes that I probably couldn’t walk in.

“I don’t think I could walk in those, Auntie Fee. They look too skinny and too tall. I’ll leave that up to y’all old heads,” I said, laughing at her and my mom’s expense.

“Girl, bye. You better ask ya daddy ’bout me. I got a few pair in the closet right now waiting for me to drop this load,” my mom replied, rubbing her stomach with a smirk.

“Eww, y’all nasty. Come on, Ivory. Let’s go look for our own stuff and leave the Golden Girls nasty tail selves here. We’ll be in Nordstrom.” Before they could even say anything, I walked out with Ivory in suit.

“I can’t wait for your party. It’s going to be so much fun, and I know you can’t wait to see Ahsad,” Ivory spoke, popping her gum like a ratchet.

“I guess. I haven’t talked to him in a minute since all of this has been going on. I don’t want him to look at me like a freak.”

“Why would he even think that? You can’t help that your real mom is a bum bitch. I hope my mom and Auntie Jade run across her and beat her ass real good,” Ivory voiced. She was a lot like our Auntie Jade, very unfiltered.

“That’s if I don’t do it first. I know my dad thinks he’s doing what’s best for me, but I just want him to get rid of her already so that we can go back to living our normal everyday lives.”

“I bet you do. I can’t even imagine going through this, but you know I got you, sis. Now let’s go find some fly stuff to make Ashad and Kenté lose their minds.” We sauntered off in the store to go and find some shoes and other accessories to match our dresses. We were trying on shoes when I heard someone speak my name.

“Anni? Hey, baby.” Yanna spoke while I ignored her.

“You don’t hear me talking to you?” she asked like she was annoyed.

“I’m not deaf. I’m just trying not to act like my daddy’s daughter right now.”

“Listen, lil’ girl. I am your moth—” she started to say, but I cut her off before she had a chance to finish her sentence.

“You’re nothing to me.” I was seething.

“Look, you will respect me or—”

“Or what?” my mom said as her and my aunts approached us with looks to kill plastered over their faces.

“Bitch, mind your business. This is between me and my daughter!” Yanna snapped right before my mom punched her in the face.

“I thought I told you to learn how to fuckin’ address me, and I’m pretty sure bitch wasn’t one of them. Now this is my last time telling you to stay the fuck away from my daughter, or I’ll be raising your son too.” My mom said all of that with a scowl on her face until the end.
